A gentle light, coming from the several lit candles in the room, reflected carefully off of metal plated skin. Genji was sitting amidst a nest of pillows and blankets, meditating calmly. An occasional hum would leave him lips, unheard except for him.
“Hey, Darlin’. I’m not interrupting anything, am I?” Jesse’s voice floated through the air, Genji’s relaxed brain barely processing his words. Genji slowly opened his eyes and smiled.
“No, come in. What is it?” He asked, folding him hands in his laps. His mask was sitting next to him, half buried underneath pillows and blankets. The candlelight bounced off his scarred skin. It wasn’t the first time Jesse had seen him without his mask, but Jesse’s heart still skipped a beat.
Jesse gave a nervous smile and moved to sit in front of Genji. He slipped his shoes off as he entered the room.
“Well, I wanted to ask ya somethin’.” He let out a nervous chuckle. The blush settled against his tanned skin was barely visible in the dim lighting.
“What is it, あなた?” Genji asked, smiling as best he could through the damage to his face.
Jesse coughed.
“Well, we’ve been sweet on each other for a while now. An-and our line of work is pretty dangerous. So I was wonderin’…” He drew his hands out from under his sarape.
His hands were empty.
“Wait, what? Oh, shit! Where’d it go?” He mumbled, feeling his pockets hastily while mumbling to himself.
“What’s wrong?” Genji asked, his brow furrowing in concern.
“I lost it.” Jesse mumbled, his mouth settling into a deep frown.
“Lost what?” “The ring…”
Genji’s eyes widened. “R-ring?” He stammered, a blush fighting to cover his scarred skin.
“W-well, I…I thought this would go a bit smoother. B-but yeah, I had a ring. Um… can I do this again?” Jesse laughed, rubbing the back of his neck sheepishly.
Genji nodded, still a bit shell shocked.
“So, we’ve been sweet on each other for a while, and our line of work is dangerous. So, Genji, light of my life, apple of my eye, will you give me the pleasure of bein’ your husband?” He asked, his heart pounding in his ears.
The room was still for a long moment. Jesse was certain Genji could hear his heart. His breathing was stuttered and rapid. He could feel his blood pulsing through his veins as he waited for a response.
Then, all of a sudden, he had a lapful of cyborg ninja.
“Yes, yes, yes, yes!” Genji exclaimed, peppering Jesse’s face with kisses. Jesse laughed as the younger man’s chapped lips scraped against his face.
I love you, Darlin’.” Jesse drawled, pressing a slow kiss to the Japanese man’s lips.
“I love you too, あなた.” Genji responded into the kiss.

(あなた- pronounced anata, means darling.)
